What does it mean to see someones face in the embers of a fire?

I was sitting one evening watching the glow of the embers in the fireplace. left the room for a moment and when I came back and looked again - plain as day was the silhouette of a man I know. I was totally blown away but felt such warmth and wonder to see this - only sorry now I didn't grab the camera.
